A week designed to feel like a real vacation.

Enough structure to make each day memorable, with enough downtime for swimming, food, games, naps, and the long conversations that only happen when everyone is finally in the same place.

The rhythm is simple: activity days, rest days, and big family moments. No rushing. No long road trips. Just Southern California, summer light, and the people we love.

The Heart Of It

We didn't fly across the country
to check off a list.

We came for the people. The schedule is here to hold the week, not to run it. If a day melts into the pool and the plan changes, that's the plan working.

Wednesday

Three strong options.

Decide the night before based on weather, energy, and how the family is feeling. All three are good. None of them is wrong.

Plan A

Palm Springs Air Museum

A lighter day with aircraft, military history, and engineering β€” finishing back home with plenty of pool time before dinner.

  • Best for: slower pace, grandma, toddlers, avoiding LA traffic
  • Why it works: fascinating without consuming the whole day
  • Rhythm: museum morning, lunch, home by mid-afternoon
Plan B

Crypto.com Arena + La Brea

A Los Angeles day combining Lakers history, sports culture, and Ice Age fossils β€” bigger outing, longer day, deeper into the city.

  • Best for: sports fans and guests wanting a bigger outing
  • Why it works: Lakers legacy meets mammoths and saber-toothed cats
  • Rhythm: arena tour, lunch, La Brea, early dinner, return
Plan C

Beach day β€” Corona del Mar or Huntington Beach

Pack the towels and head west. Sand, surf, and a long lazy stretch on the Pacific β€” perfect when the desert feels like enough.

  • Best for: ocean lovers, kids who need open space, big group hangout
  • Why it works: cooler air off the water, easy picnic lunch
  • Rhythm: morning drive (~90 min), beach + lunch, back for sunset at the pool
Until Then

The strongest weeks
are the ones we show up for.

Palm Springs in the afternoon. Air Force One on a hilltop. The roar of a goal. A long lunch on a Saturday. Eight days, and then a year of waiting for the next one.

β€” See you in July.

❓ Quick answers

πŸ€– Trip assistant

Ask anything about the trip. Instant AI answer based on what's already on this site β€” and you can send your question to the host to be added to the FAQ.

When should I arrive and when can I leave?

Plan to arrive by Sunday, July 5 at 2:00 pm PT. Departures should be no earlier than the following Sunday at 1:00 am PT so we get the full eight days together. A few early birds are landing Saturday July 4 β€” they're welcome to join the noon church service.

Why is the schedule so chill?

On purpose. The trip is designed for relaxing, not running. In most cases there's a low-key day between outings so the grandparents, toddlers, and jet-lagged travelers can breathe.

Who is cooking each night?

We're rotating crews. The crew assigned to a meal is responsible for that meal β€” including buying the groceries for it.

Why aren't we doing Sequoia / Yosemite / Lake Tahoe?

Distance. Each of those would mean 6–8 hours of driving each way, plus an overnight. We'd rather spend that time around the pool with each other.
